What HiringXray scans for

👻 Phantom listings: Roles that have been live for months or even years, quietly reposted to appear new, or kept open to collect CVs with no intention of hiring. HiringXray surfaces the history job boards hide.

⚙️ ATS traps: Before you spend 90 minutes in Workday re-entering your entire CV, HiringXray tells you exactly what application system you’re walking into — and what to expect.

💸 Salary gaps: 💸 Salary gaps: Salary transparency is now the norm — and about to become law. When it’s missing, HiringXray flags it. In 2026, hiding what a role pays says something about the employer. And when a range is detectable behind a ‘Competitive’ label, we surface it.

Frequently asked questions

Is HiringXray free? HiringXray is free for 7 days, after that £3.00 per month.

Which job boards does it work on? Currently Reed with eFinancialCareers, TotalJobs, Indeed and LinkedIn coming soon.

Does it collect my data? No. Everything HiringXray processes stays entirely within your browser. Nothing is sent to any server. Your scan history is stored locally on your device only.

What is a phantom or ghost listing? A phantom listing is a job that appears active but is not genuinely being recruited for. Common examples include roles reposted to appear new, positions kept live to build a talent pipeline, and listings left open after a hire has already been made.

What is ATS friction? ATS stands for Applicant Tracking System – the software employers use to receive applications. Some systems like Workday and Taleo require you to create an account and manually re-enter your CV. HiringXray warns you before you click Apply – so you can decide if the role is worth the time investment before you’re an hour deep in a Workday form.

What does the risk score mean? HiringXray assigns each listing a Low, Medium or High risk score based on a combination of signals including posting age, salary transparency, listing language and application system. It is a guide to help you prioritise your time — not a guarantee.

Will it work on every job listing? HiringXray works on supported job boards. On unsupported sites it will not scan. We are continuously adding new boards.

How do I uninstall it? Right-click the HiringXray icon in your Chrome toolbar and select Remove from Chrome. This also permanently deletes all locally stored scan history.
